Fred Bonnie

Frederic Joseph Bonnie (1945-2000) was born in Bridgton, Maine and was a long-time resident of Birmingham, Alabama. He graduated from the University of Vermont and received a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from the University of Alabama. Bonnie also attended the University of Maine in Portland; the University of New Hampshire; Universite de Nice; Harvard University; and Jefferson State Junior College. Bonnie held many jobs, which provided the material for his short stories. He worked as a milkman, caddy, short order cook, factory worker, pizza deliveryman, house painter, mover, landscaper, teacher, clerk, country-western singer, librarian, salesman, magazine editor, janitor, banker, and advertising copywriter. His works include six books on gardening, seven collections of short stories and a novel.
