Virginia Pounds Brown

Virginia Pounds Brown, of Birmingham, is a former librarian and bookstore owner who began writing books to fill gaps in the available history of her native state and region. She is especially interested in Native Americans of the South, and has written or co-written and co-edited several books on the subject. Her book, Cochula's Journey, won the 1997 Small Press Award for young people's fiction.

Brown holds degrees from Randolph-Macon Woman's College and Emory University Library School. She is an avid golfer and has written about that subject too.
