Claire Cloninger is a six-time winner of the Gospel Music Association's Dove Award winner for lyric writing. Her songs have been widely recorded by such artists as Amy Grant, Sandi Patti, Wayne Watson, Don Moen and B.J. Thomas, to name a few. She was commissioned by the national Statue of Liberty Centennial Committee to write a new second verse to "The Star-Spangled Banner" which was used as part of the centennial celebration. This popular new version of the national anthem was also used to cap off a patriotic centennial extravaganza at Disney World. She has written approximately two dozen seasonal musicals for church choirs. These best sellers won five of her Dove Awards. Her writing is not limited to lyrics. She has authored fourteen books. Dear Abba was nominated for a Christian Booksellers Association Award in the devotional category and was a finalist for the EPCA Gold Medallion Award as Devotional Book of the Year. Her recent books, the E-mail From God series, are co-authored with her sons, Curt and Andy. Claire and her husband, Robert, live in a log cabin on a river bank in Baldwin County, Alabama. They are active members of Christ Anglican Church in Mobile, Alabama. They have two grown sons and are now enjoying two daughters-in-law and four grandchildren.
