Vonetta Flowers 2002 Olympic gold medalist and a resident of Birmingham, Alabama, "has received numerous national and international awards, including NBC's 2002 Olympic Spirit Award, the Wilma Rudolph Athletic Olympian Award, the Victor Award, and the Women's Sports Foundation Woman of the Year award.
