"Gail Lamar grew up in a small town with lots of animals---including wild mustangs ponies her father brought by train from Wyoming and herded down South Three Notch Street---and a large, loving, and never dull family. Lamar studied at the University of Alabama. She and her husband, Lee, live in Auburn, Alabama, with two dogs and two cats and seven grandchildren nearby.
