Bob Moody

"Bob Moody grew up in Boaz, Alabama where his parents were school teachers, and spent summers in Moody, Alabama, a small town which his great-grandparents had founded in the early 1800's. After graduating from Auburn University's School of Architecture with a B.A. in Interior Design, he worked as a commercial artist for Chance Vaught Aircraft and R.G. LeTourneau in Texas.

In 1959, when NASA was created, Moody joined the Von Braun team in Graphic Engineering for Future Projects in the space program. Moody's group created graphic slide presentations for Congress in the early 1960's for Apollo I's trip to the moon. His work and the work of his department were published in Time, Life, Paris Match, and many other publications.

He left NASA to start the interior design department in what was then the largest architectural firm in the Southeast, Charles H. McCauley & Associates, Inc.

In 1972, he establish his own interior design firm, Moody & Associates, Inc. Since then, Moody has received numerous awards in historic preservation and had developed and/or renovated over forty historic buildings in the Birmingham area alone, many featured in the Birmingham Historical Society publication, Cinderella Stories. His design work has been published in Contract Magazine and Design South Magazine. (Gifts of Grace, p. 109)
